The Ola Diamondhead is one of the most futuristic electric motorcycles currently under development in India. Showcased by Ola Electric during its Sankalp event, the Diamondhead represents the brand’s vision for high-performance electric motorcycles. With audacious styling, state-of-the-art technology and claims of extreme performance, the bike is intended to reset the standard in premium electric motorcycles.

While most electric bicycles aim to maximise efficiency, the Diamondhead is being designed as a high-performance sport-touring electric motorcycle. It fuses advanced aerodynamics with smart electronics, artificial intelligence integration and cutting-edge battery technology.

While the bike is still in its prototype phase, Ola has shared quite a few key pieces of information regarding its performance, aesthetics and features. When made available, the Diamondhead may just prove to be one of the most advanced electric motorcycles ever created in India.

Ola Diamondhead Price in India

The Ola Diamondhead is expected to be priced at around ₹5 lakh (ex-showroom) when it reaches production. Being a premium electric sport-tourer with high-end technologies like ADAS and adaptive suspension, the price places the motorcycle in the high-performance EV motorcycle space.

If launched at this price, the Diamondhead could compete with premium electric motorcycles such as the Ultraviolette F77 and other upcoming performance EVs. However, it is important to note that the motorcycle currently remains a concept prototype at this time, and its price could change when production starts.

Ola Diamondhead Variants

As of now, Ola Electric has only revealed the Diamondhead without any official variants.

Since the bike is still in development, the company has only showcased a prototype version. The production model may also be offered in variants with different battery capacities, power outputs or equipment levels. Expect more information on variants ahead of the official launch.

Engine and Performance

Instead of a conventional petrol engine, Ola Diamondhead utilises a performance-oriented electric powertrain that operates on high-voltage architecture.

Perhaps the most incredible claim that Ola makes is its acceleration. The company says the motorcycle can go from 0 to 100 km/h in around 2 seconds, which would place it among the fastest motorcycles in the world if achieved in production form.  It also adopts 8C battery discharge technology, enabling the motor to provide instant maximum output.

Ultra-fast charging is another major highlight, which is expected to charge the battery from 20% to 80% in around 10 mins using CCS fast charging technology. The bike is likely to utilise Ola’s new Bharat Cell 4680 battery tech, which is said to offer better range, punch and energy density than contemporary EV batteries.

Overall, the Diamondhead is massively performance-oriented with blistering acceleration and sophisticated electric power delivery, which sets it apart from most of the commuter motorcycles in the segment.

Mileage and Fuel Efficiency

Considering Diamondhead is an electric motorcycle, it does not feature typical petrol bike fuel efficiency numbers.

Ola is yet to reveal the official riding range of the production model. But the company has confirmed that the bike will be using a high-energy-density battery with optimised thermal management to hold up against aggressive riding conditions, while still maximising performance and battery efficiency.

Once the bike moves closer to production, Ola is expected to reveal more details regarding battery capacity and real-world riding range.

Design and Comfort

If you ask me, the Ola Diamondhead’s design is one of its most impressive features.

The motorcycle comes with a futuristic and aerodynamic design that looks more like a concept bike than an actual motorcycle. At the front is a diamond-shaped design with a horizontal LED surround strip to create a unique visual identity. The bike also features:

  • Aerodynamic body panels
  • A sharp tail section with LED lighting
  • Bar-end mirrors
  • 17-inch alloy wheels
  • Enclosed rear wheel for improved aerodynamics

Well, the riding posture is sporty with low clip-on type handlebars at a tank height, which gives it sport tourer dynamics. Ola also says that the motorcycle will have active ergonomics that can automatically adjust as per rider posture and riding conditions.

Then there’s the use of aerospace-grade materials, including magnesium, titanium and carbon fiber that reduce weight and enhance structural strength.

Features and Technology

The Ola Diamondhead is heavily packed with technology. It is likely to ship with MoveOS 6, an AI-based operating system created by Ola Electric. Key technology features include:

  • Adaptive suspension
  • Active aerodynamics
  • Hub-centred steering system
  • Active ergonomics
  • Ultra-fast charging capability
  • Smart rider interface

The bike is also said to offer a smart augmented-reality helmet integration feature that would allow riders to interact with the motorcycle’s system in a way that makes more sense for them. These technologies focus on providing a very different riding experience from traditional motorcycles.

Safety Features

Having said that, the Ola Diamondhead is likely to bring active safety technologies that are barely seen on motorcycles today. Estimated safety features may include:

  • ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Front collision warning
  • Lane departure warning
  • Blind spot alerts
  • Traction control
  • Terrain-specific ABS

In terms of braking performance, the motorcycle will come equipped with twin front disc brakes and a rear disc brake. These features demonstrate that Ola is focused on providing automotive-grade safety technology to motorcycles.

Final Verdict

The Ola Diamondhead represents a bold step toward the future of electric motorcycles. With its futuristic design, extreme acceleration claims, AI-powered software and advanced rider assistance systems, the bike could become one of the most technologically advanced motorcycles ever built in India.

However, it is important to remember that the Diamondhead is a work in progress, with a production version not expected until about 2027. If Ola can deliver even a fraction of the claimed performance and technology, then the Diamondhead could reshape what riders expect from electric motorcycles in the coming years.
