Suzuki Motorcycle India takes the wraps off its first electric scooter, the Suzuki e-Access, in a segment that is currently growing rapidly. With intentions of everyday urban riding, the e-Access uses the New Suzuki foundation for EVs to fuse reliability and smooth handling with modern tech.

While a lot of electric scooters sharpen their focus on performance, the e-Access is all about practicality, keeping the battery safe and providing smooth ride characteristics. It features a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, adjustable riding modes, regenerative braking and range for daily city commuting. Backed by Suzuki’s premium design language, connected technology, and dependable engineering, the e-Access goes up against other electric scooters vying for your attention in India.

Suzuki e-Access Price in India

In India, the Suzuki e-Access is estimated to cost ₹1.88 lakh (ex-showroom).

It comes under premium electric scooters, rivalling the likes of Ather 450X, TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak. Suzuki hopes its reputation, long-life battery technology, and rugged build quality will justify the price.

Suzuki e-Access Variants

Suzuki e-Access is currently available in a single standard variant with different dual-tone colour choices. Here are some common colour schemes that are offered:

  • Metallic Matte Black / Metallic Matte Bordeaux Red
  • Pearl Grace White / Metallic Matte Fibroin Grey
  • Pearl Jade Green / Metallic Matte Fibroin Grey
  • Metallic Matte Stellar Blue / Metallic Matte Fibroin Grey

These colour combinations give the scooter a modern and premium appearance suitable for urban riders.

Engine and Performance

Instead of a petrol engine, the e-Access is paired with a high-capacity battery pack and is driven by an electric motor. Key performance specifications:

  • Motor Power: 4.1 kW
  • Maximum Torque: 15 Nm
  • Battery Capacity: 3.07 kWh (Lithium Iron Phosphate – LFP)
  • Top Speed: 71 km/h
  • Transmission: Automatic

The scooter delivers smooth and linear acceleration, which makes it easy-going when riding in traffic. The electric motor has an instant throttle response, facilitating brisk progress in traffic and easy surges forward at low speeds. Additionally, the e-Access gets Suzuki Drive Mode Selector-e (SDMS-e) that lets the rider select between multiple ride modes for optimised power delivery and efficiency. These include:

  • Eco Mode: For efficiency and increased range
  • Ride A Mode: Balanced performance
  • Ride B Mode: More responsive acceleration

There’s also a reverse mode, which helps with parking and low-speed manoeuvres.

Mileage and Fuel Efficiency

A full charge is said to offer around 95 km of range, which should be enough for daily city drives.

Range will vary according to riding style, traffic conditions and ride mode chosen. In the real world, riders can expect about 70-80 km of range on average, which should be ample for most in-town rides.

Charging Time:

The e-Access will accommodate both standard and fast-charging systems.

Portable Home Charger:

  • 0-80% charge: 4 hours 30 minutes
  • 0-100% charge: about 6 hours 20 minutes

Fast Charging:

  • 0-80% charge: around 1 hour 12 minutes
  • Full charge: about 2 hours 12 minutes

This flexibility means riders can either recharge the scooter overnight at home or top up quickly at public charging stations.

Design and Comfort

Suzuki e-Access adopts a clean, modern design while keeping the practical styling associated with the Access nameplate.

A unique LED headlamp and LED position lamps enhance this scooter’s premium front profile. Spanning the rear, an LED tail lamp with light-guide tech for both convenience and presentation completes the visual affair. The scooter dimensions are more oriented for city rides:

  • Seat Height: 765 mm
  • Ground Clearance: 160 mm
  • Wheelbase: 1305 mm
  • Kerb Weight: 122 kg

Those dimensions enable the e-Access to be manageable for a wide variety of riders. The upright riding position, wide seat and balanced chassis offer all-day comfort for daily commuting.

Features and Technology

The e-Access also comes with a host of modern features to further improve convenience and connectivity. Key features include:

  • Fully digital instrument console
  • Bluetooth connectivity with smartphone integration
  • Turn-by-turn navigation support
  • USB charging port
  • Keyless start system
  • Reverse assist function
  • Regenerative braking system

The digital display shows the basic information, including battery level, riding mode, estimated range and navigation alerts. We may use your smartphone to receive phone call notifications and navigation instructions.

Safety Features

Suzuki is committed to safety and reliability in the e-Access. The scooter includes:

  • Regenerative braking system
  • Stable underbone frame
  • Alloy wheels
  • LED lighting for better visibility

Another huge safety benefit is the Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery. Compared to traditional lithium cells, LFP technology has greater thermal stability and higher cycle life. Suzuki says that this battery can last roughly double and deliver uniform performance.

Final Verdict

The Suzuki e-Access represents a significant step for Suzuki as it enters the electric scooter market. The scooter is aimed at city commuters seeking a high-quality electric alternative that’s both reliable and of quality build, with a refined riding experience, proven battery tech and premium build.

Its strengths include smooth performance, long battery life with LFP technology, practical features, and Suzuki’s trusted brand reputation. However, thefairly high price and moderate range might cause a few buyers to look at alternatives in the segment.

Overall, Suzuki e-Access is a well-engineered electric scooter which focuses on practicality, longevity and day-to-day usability. Heavily market-oriented and versatile to the requirements of city dwellers, the e-Access could be a good option for buyers looking for a quality, low-to-the-ground electric commuter from an established brand.
