January is a month when the Indian two-wheeler market tends to slow down and take a pause. Most manufacturers take a little break after the festive rush of last quarter, but ramp things up yet again at some point. Yet, January 2026 tends to be an exception with a bunch of interesting bike launches being lined up to hit showrooms right at the start of the year.

This lineup is particularly interesting, not just because of the number of bikes coming to market, but also for the segments they cover. The upcoming bike launches cover a wide range of categories, from classic retro twin to entry-level adventure motorcycle to compact sportbike and practical middleweight street naked. That means buyers with significantly different riding preferences may discover something worth waiting for.

Here’s a closer look at four two-wheelers that are set to hit the market around January 2026, aimed at different kinds of Indian riders.

Royal Enfield Bullet 650

Among the bikes that are expected to be unveiled, the Royal Enfield Bullet 650 is perhaps the most traditional and also the simplest to comprehend. Royal Enfield already has a winning formula with its 650cc twin-cylinder platform, and this motorcycle is likely to pair that proven engine with the legendary Bullet styling.

It will more likely share the same 648cc parallel-twin engine that is found in several of the brand’s other current models, including the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. And as one of Royal Enfield’s more-revered powerplants of late, it’s known for delivering on strong mid-range torque and smooth cruising capability.

It’s also widely thought that the Bullet 650 will be positioned below the Royal Enfield Classic 650 in its manufacturer’s lineup. That positioning implies a more stripped-down motorcycle with the number of premium touches pared back, but double down on that fundamental Bullet theme; relaxed ergonomics, simple mechanical charm and timeless styling.

The motorcycle is said to be launched in two colour options, initially at launch, following Royal Enfield’s usual practice of launching a handful of colours and then expanding later. An appealing launch of early 2026 for Bullet riders who adore the heritage body style but heartingly seek a performance-new twin-cylinder motor.

KTM RC 160

On the other end of the scale, we have the KTM RC 160 set to be aimed at younger riders looking for a small but in many ways serious sportbike. Right now, KTM’s RC lineup features the wee KTM RC 125, skipping from that up to the weightier KTM RC 200, giving rise to a significant blank spot in the entry-level performance category.

At the other end of the spectrum sits the KTM RC 160, which is expected to target young riders looking for a compact but serious sportbike. KTM’s RC lineup currently jumps from the smaller KTM RC 125 to the larger KTM RC 200, leaving a noticeable gap in the entry-level performance category.

That said, KTM’s play will probably centre on sportier hardware and a sharper design. Based on early test sightings and industry reports, the bike could gain premium features such as upside-down front forks, dual-channel ABS and 17-inch alloy wheels, all adding to its sportbike credentials.

Feature-wise, the RC 160 could get modern features that younger buyers nowadays expect from their motorcycles, like Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and might even get a quickshifter on higher trims. KTM will position this motorcycle somewhere near the R15, so where exactly they price it will determine how much of a threat it is, as they need to give them enough reason to buy whale, maintaining the brand’s aspirational factor.

BMW F 450 GS

Adventure motorcycles are proving to be extremely popular in India, and the upcoming BMW F 450 GS could act as a key entry point for many riders into adventure touring.

This motorcycle is interesting due to its expected production in India under last year’s co-operative agreement between BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company. Local production could allow the brand to maintain the most competitive pricing, relative to fully imported models.

The F 450 GS is expected to feature a new twin-cylinder engine with a capacity of around 420cc, giving it a strong balance between performance and touring capability. The bike will most likely borrow some of the design language from BMW’s larger GS models, like the rugged styling and adventure-ready stance.

Expected equipment includes a large colour TFT display, multiple riding modes, traction control and switchable ABS. With these features, it would position itself firmly in the high end of the middleweight adventure segment. If priced correctly, the F 450 GS should rub shoulders with things like the KTM 390 Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. However, the BMW badge and GS heritage might offer it a strong aspirational appeal among adventure enthusiasts.

Honda CB500F

The Honda CB500F represents a more straightforward approach to middleweight motorcycling. Unlike the adventure-focused BMW, this bike is designed primarily as a street-oriented naked motorcycle that focuses on usability and balanced performance.

The CB500F is based on Honda’s globally successful 471cc parallel-twin platform, which also underpins other motorcycles in the 500 series. The engine is known for its smooth power delivery, reliability, and easy-to-manage performance, qualities that make it appealing to riders moving up from smaller motorcycles.

However, its exact launch timeline for India remains a little unclear. While some reports say the new model could debut in mid-January, others indicate it may not land until later this year. If it does arrive early in 2026, the CB500F may offer buyers a strong alternative to other motorcycles that are either sportier or less aggressive in their respective segments. It’s aimed at compact motorcycle riders seeking neutral ergonomics, predictable handling, and a bike that excels just as much in city commutes as it does on highway jaunts.

Key Takeaways from These Bike Launches

Looking at the bigger picture, January 2026 could serve as a rare flash sale of varying two-wheelers for Indian customers. Each of the anticipated launches targets a vastly different kind of rider.

The Royal Enfield Bullet 650 will likely attract those who appreciate classic design and relaxed cruising. The KTM RC 160 is aimed at younger enthusiasts seeking a sporty entry-level machine. The BMW F 450 GS could open the door to premium adventure touring, while the Honda CB500F promises a balanced and practical middleweight street motorcycle.

Simply put, the start of 2026 could not only see new motorcycles being introduced to the Indian market but also offer potential buyers a wider selection than typically available at this time of year, with January turning out to be quite an interesting month for two-wheeler aficionados in India.
