Tata Sierra Legend Series: Price, Variants and What Changes with Each Legend Variant
Tata Motors launched the Sierra Legend Series on 18 September 2026. It adds five new “L” trims to the Sierra. Across petrol and diesel engines, that makes 18 new variant combinations.
Nothing has been withdrawn. The existing Sierra variants stay on sale and are now grouped as the Signature Series. What has changed is where the equipment sits. Ventilated front seats and a powered driver’s seat, for example, were earlier limited to the Accomplished trim. They now appear in the Pure+ L, which costs much less. Tata has also added more steps between existing price points, so buyers have more choice at each budget.
So the practical question is this: what exactly do the Legend variants add, and does the extra money translate into useful equipment?
Tata Sierra Legend Series Price in India
| Variant | Ex-showroom Price |
| Smart+ L | Rs 11.99 lakh – Rs 13.49 lakh |
| Pure L | Rs 13.79 lakh – Rs 15.24 lakh |
| Pure L(O) | Rs 14.29 lakh – Rs 16.99 lakh |
| Pure+ L | Rs 14.99 lakh – Rs 17.74 lakh |
| Adventure+ L | Rs 16.99 lakh – Rs 19.49 lakh |
The Legend Series starts at Rs 11.99 lakh and tops out at Rs 19.49 lakh. The lower figure in each row is the petrol manual. The higher figure is the most expensive engine-gearbox combination for that trim. Prices are ex-showroom, India, as reported at launch. The reports do not name a city. On-road prices vary by state, so we have not listed them.
The Legend Series is available in five trims, with prices varying by engine and gearbox combination:
| Variant | Petrol MT | Petrol DCT | Diesel MT | Diesel AT | Turbo-petrol AT |
| Smart+ L | 11.99 | – | 13.49 | – | – |
| Pure L | 13.79 | 14.99 | 15.24 | – | – |
| Pure L(O) | 14.29 | 15.59 | 15.74 | 16.99 | – |
| Pure+ L | 14.99 | 16.29 | 16.44 | 17.74 | – |
| Adventure+ L | 16.99 | 18.29 | 18.19 | 19.49 | 18.99 |
(All figures in Rs lakh, ex-showroom.)
The Sierra’s overall starting price stays at Rs 11.49 lakh for the Smart+ petrol manual. The cheapest Legend is therefore Rs 50,000 above the cheapest Sierra.
What Is the Tata Sierra Legend Series?
The Legend Series is a second set of trims sold alongside the existing Sierra range. The older trims continue under the Signature Series name, while the new Legend variants add more steps between price points and move some features to lower trims. Every Legend variant carries an “L” suffix.
There is no new engine, gearbox, or chassis with the Legend Series. The changes are focused on equipment, trim structure, and where specific features are offered across the range.
Tata’s stated approach is to make more comfort and convenience features available lower in the Sierra range. The new L trims also create smaller price steps between existing equipment levels. On the petrol manual, the Signature Pure (Rs 13.14 lakh) and Pure+ (Rs 14.64 lakh) were Rs 1.50 lakh apart. The Pure L and Pure L(O) now sit between them, per Rushlane.
Tata Sierra Legend Series: Variant-Wise Features
Tata’s release confirms the Pure L’s 17-inch alloys, leatherette interior, 26.03 cm (10.25-inch) touchscreen and eight-speaker audio.
| Legend Variant | Key Features Added/Included | What It Means for Buyers |
| Smart+ L | Leatherette seats and trim, wheel covers, auto-folding ORVMs, steering-mounted controls, roof rails | Cabin finish and convenience additions at the entry point. Manual gearbox only. |
| Pure L | 17-inch alloys, leatherette, 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, 8-speaker audio, rear camera, cruise control, TPMS | The touchscreen and driver aids arrive here, along with alloys and leatherette. |
| Pure L(O) | Panoramic sunroof, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers (over Pure L) | Adds the panoramic roof without moving to the Pure+ L. |
| Pure+ L | Ventilated front seats, 6-way powered driver’s seat, thigh-support extender, manual Boss Mode, full leatherette | Comfort features previously limited to a higher trim. |
| Adventure+ L | Pure+ L features plus 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, frequency-dependent dampers, terrain modes, dual 12.3-inch screens, ambient lighting, reclining rear seat, wireless charger | The most fully equipped Legend trim, with the widest choice of engines. |
Smart+ L
The Smart+ L adds leatherette upholstery and trim, wheel covers, auto-folding mirrors, steering-mounted controls and roof rails over the Smart+. It comes in petrol and diesel, both manual only. The additions are mainly focused on cabin finish and convenience.
Pure L
The Pure L brings the 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless phone connectivity, eight speakers, a rear camera, cruise control and TPMS, along with alloy wheels and leatherette. It has petrol manual, petrol DCT, and diesel manual versions.
Pure L(O)
The “O” adds a panoramic sunroof, automatic headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers to the Pure L. The Pure L(O) adds the panoramic sunroof and automatic convenience features without moving to the Pure+ L.
Pure+ L
The Pure+ L adds ventilated front seats, a 6-way powered driver’s seat, a thigh-support extender, manual Boss Mode and a full leatherette interior. Autocar India also lists dual-zone climate control among its features. This is the trim where the Legend Series moves comfort equipment down from the Accomplished.
Adventure+ L
The Adventure+ L carries the Pure+ L’s comfort features and adds a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, frequency-dependent dampers, terrain modes, dual 12.3-inch screens, ambient lighting, a reclining rear seat and a wireless charger. It brings several of these features into the Legend lineup, although the extent of overlap with the Signature Adventure+ varies by equipment. It is the only Legend trim sold across all five powertrain combinations.
Tata Sierra Legend vs Signature Series: What’s Different?
| Area | Legend Series | Signature Series |
| Positioning | Five “L” trims sold alongside the existing range | The existing seven trims, carried over under a new name |
| Price | Rs 11.99 lakh – Rs 19.49 lakh | Range starts at Rs 11.49 lakh; Accomplished trims continue above |
| Variant choices | 5 trims, 18 combinations | Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished, Accomplished+ |
| Major feature additions | Leatherette, alloys, sunroof in Pure L(O), ventilated and powered seat in Pure+ L | Equipment unchanged |
| Engine/mechanical setup | Same engines and gearboxes | Unchanged |
| Design changes | None beyond equipment such as alloys and roof rails | Unchanged |
| Technology/equipment | Existing features moved into lower and mid-spec trims | As before |
The Legend Series has no Accomplished or Accomplished+ version. Those trims continue as before. Separately from the Legend Series, the Signature Adventure+ can now also be had with the petrol DCT, according to Autocar India.
Neither series is better as a whole. The Legend trims carry extra equipment and cost more. The Signature trims cost less, and some buy features that a nearby Legend trim does not. The Signature Pure+, for example, already has a sunroof and is priced close to the Pure L(O).
What Do You Get for the Extra Money?
The Legend trims carry a ₹50,000–70,000 price difference over the trims they are based on. However, the two series do not map perfectly variant for variant, and Tata has not published a one-to-one comparison of the lineups. The more useful way to look at the range is by what each L trim adds.
- Smart+ L: The additions are mainly focused on cabin finish and convenience: leatherette, auto-folding mirrors, steering controls, and roof rails.
- Pure L: The main additions are alloy wheels and leatherette, alongside the listed technology and convenience equipment.
- Pure L(O): The main additions are the panoramic sunroof and automatic convenience features.
- Pure+ L: The key additions are focused on front-seat comfort and adjustability: ventilated seats, a powered driver’s seat, a thigh-support extender, and Boss Mode.
- Adventure+ L: The additions focus on technology, convenience, and chassis-related equipment: the 360-degree camera, larger screens, adaptive dampers,s and terrain modes.
Within the Legend range, each step costs more. The Pure L(O) is Rs 50,000 above the Pure L on the manual. The Pure+ L is Rs 70,000 above the Pure L(O) on most powertrains. The price gap between the Pure+ L and Adventure+ L varies by powertrain, with the Adventure+ L positioned roughly Rs 1.75–2 lakh higher.
Some Legend additions have no direct Signature equivalent. The Pure L(O) is a new step in the lineup, while the Pure+ L brings ventilated seats and a powered driver’s seat to a lower trim level than before. Tata says these trims extend comfort and convenience features across more of the range.
Engine, Performance and Mechanical Setup
| 1.5L Revotron NA petrol | 1.5L Hyperion turbo-petrol | 1.5L Kryojet diesel | |
| Power/torque | 105 bhp / 145 Nm | 158 bhp / 255 Nm | 116 bhp / 260 Nm |
| Gearbox | 6-speed MT / 7-speed DCT | 6-speed automatic | 6-speed MT / 6-speed automatic |
The Sierra is offered with three engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol producing 105 bhp and 145 Nm, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol producing 158 bhp and 255 Nm, and a 1.5-litre diesel producing 116 bhp and 260 Nm. The engines are paired with manual and automatic transmissions depending on the variant, and the Sierra remains front-wheel drive.
The turbo-petrol automatic is listed with the Adventure+ L in the current price structure. Since there is conflicting information about its availability on other trims, buyers should confirm the exact engine and gearbox combination with Tata before booking.
Tata says all Sierras keep six airbags, E, SP, and all-wheel disc brakes. The Legend Series does not change the Sierra’s mechanical character.
Design and Interior
The Legend Series does not introduce a redesign. The main visual differences come from equipment such as alloy wheels, roof rails, the panoramic sunroof, and interior trim. Leatherette appears across the range, and the Adventure+ L adds ambient lighting.
Features
- Ventilated seats (Pure+ L onwards): Useful in India’s hot weather, particularly for buyers who often park outdoors.
- Six-way powered driver’s seat (Pure+ L onwards): Handy if more than one person drives the car regularly.
- Thigh-support extender: Helps taller drivers on longer trips.
- 360-degree camera (Adventure+ L): Helpful when parking a large SUV in tight spaces.
- Panoramic sunroof (Pure L(O) onwards): Adds light to the cabin. How useful it is depends on how you use it in heat, dust, and rain.
- Terrain modes (Adventure+ L): Useful for varying road surfaces, but they do not turn the front-wheel-drive Sierra into an off-road SUV.
- Reclining rear seat (Adventure+ L): Relevant to family buyers on long journeys.
What Hasn’t Changed?
- Engines: the same three 1.5-litre units.
- Gearboxes: 6-speed manual, 7-speed DCT and 6-speed automatics.
- Drive layout: front-wheel drive.
- Brakes and safety: all-wheel disc brakes, six airbags and ESP.
- Core chassis: the Sierra’s five-star Bharat NCAP-rated structure.
- Dimensions: length 4,340 mm, width 1,841 mm, height 1,715 mm, wheelbase 2,730 mm (CarWale’s Sierra figures).
- Driving character: nothing in the launch reports points to a change.
Which Tata Sierra Legend Variant Makes the Most Sense?
- Buyer prioritising a lower entry price: The Smart+ L starts at Rs 11.99 lakh with leatherette and the mirror and roof-rail additions. It comes only with a manual gearbox.
- Buyer wanting more technology: The Pure L adds the touchscreen, wireless connectivity and driver aids from Rs 13.79 lakh. The Adventure+ L adds larger screens, a 360-degree camera and adaptive dampers from Rs 16.99 lakh.
- Buyer prioritising comfort: The Pure+ L brings ventilated seats and a powered driver’s seat from Rs 14.99 lakh.
- Buyer wanting premium convenience features: The Pure L(O) adds a sunroof, automatic headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers from Rs 14.29 lakh.
- Buyer wanting the most equipment: The Adventure+ L is the top Legend trim. It starts at Rs 16.99 lakh and reaches Rs 19.49 lakh.
Final Verdict
The Legend Series is a change in how equipment is spread across the Sierra range, not an upgrade to the vehicle itself. Tata has moved features that were limited to higher trims into lower and mid-spec ones, and added more trims so buyers can choose smaller price steps.
Because two parallel lineups are now on sale, compare the variant sheets of the Legend and Signature trims you are considering before booking. If your priority is the engine, gearbox, or core chassis, the Legend Series does not fundamentally change the Sierra.
