Ducati Hypermotard V2 and V2 SP Launched in India: Price, Specs and Differences
Ducati has launched the Hypermotard V2 and Hypermotard V2 SP in India at Rs 16.53 lakh and Rs 20.78 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom). Both replace the Hypermotard 950 and get a new 890cc V2 engine, a monocoque frame, and an updated electronics package.
The Ducati Hypermotard V2 and V2 SP share the same powertrain, and the SP is the premium version with Öhlins suspension, forged aluminium wheels and Brembo M50 front calipers. Bookings are open at Ducati dealerships across India.
Ducati Hypermotard V2 and V2 SP Price in India
| Model | Ex-showroom price |
| Ducati Hypermotard V2 | Rs 16.53 lakh |
| Ducati Hypermotard V2 SP | Rs 20.78 lakh |
The SP costs Rs 4.25 lakh more than the standard bike. The V2 comes in Ducati Red, while the SP gets its own livery with white wheels and a “20” decal marking 20 years since the original Hypermotard prototype was unveiled at EICMA in 2005. These are ex-showroom prices, so insurance, registration, and other charges will push the on-road price higher.
Engine and Performance
Both bikes use the 890cc liquid-cooled Ducati V2 engine. It makes 120.4hp at 10,750rpm and 94Nm at 8,250rpm, and is paired with a six-speed gearbox and Ducati Quick Shift 2.0, which works for both upshifts and downshifts. The same engine family is used in the Panigale V2 and Monster V2.
Compared with the older 950cc Testastretta engine, power is up by about 6hp, while torque is down by 2Nm. The engine uses intake variable valve timing, and Ducati calls it the lightest twin it has produced, at 54.5kg. Some reports Ducati’s claim that 70 percent of peak torque is available at 3,000rpm, which matters for a bike that will spend a lot of time in city riding. All figures are manufacturer claims.
Design and Chassis Updates
The Hypermotard keeps its supermotard stance, with wide handlebars, a slim tank, a flat seat and twin underseat exhausts. The new LED headlight has integrated DRLs and a beak-style front cowl, and the front fork is finished in gold. Seat height is 880mm on both bikes, so shorter riders should sit on one before booking.
The aluminium monocoque frame uses the engine as a structural element and works with a double-sided aluminium swingarm. Ducati claims the standard V2 is 13kg lighter than the previous generation and the SP is 14kg lighter. Wet weight without fuel is 180kg for the V2 and 177kg for the SP. A lighter bike is generally easier to flick between corners, but Ducati has not published handling figures, so that is best judged on a test ride.
Ducati Hypermotard V2 vs V2 SP: Key Differences

The Öhlins suspension is the main reason to pay more. It suits riders who push hard on the road or plan to do track days. Suspension travel and tyre sizes are identical, so the difference comes down to component quality. The M50 calipers and dedicated master cylinder are meant to give a quicker, more flexible brake response, and the Corsa tyres are the more performance-focused rubber.
Power Launch and the pit limiter can be added to the standard V2 as accessories. The suspension, wheels and brakes are core hardware upgrades, not just extra electronic features.
Features and Electronics
Both models get a 5-inch full-TFT display and a six-axis IMU that supports cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, and Engine Brake Control. There are four riding modes: Race, Sport, Road, and Wet. Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation are available through Ducati’s optional multimedia system, not as standard.
The SP’s extra electronics are Power Launch and the pit limiter, both listed in the table above.
Which Ducati Hypermotard Should You Choose?
The standard Hypermotard V2 has the full engine, frame, IMU-based electronics, and TFT display. It also has fully adjustable KYB suspension and Brembo M4.32 calipers. For riders who mainly want a lighter, more powerful supermotard for road use, it covers the core package for Rs 4.25 lakh less.
The V2 SP makes more sense for buyers who specifically value Öhlins suspension, forged wheels, Brembo M50 calipers and Corsa tyres. Riders who expect to push the bike hard or use it on a track will get more from that hardware. The choice comes down to whether those upgrades are worth the Rs 4.25 lakh premium to you.
